Ok, Cupid. Show me what you got.

I have met many-a-past lovers at a plethora of places: bars, clubs, elevators, subways, on the street, in class, around town, on the town, out of town, upside-down of town, etc.  So when my friend told me he had joined an online dating website, I was kind of baffled.  Granted he is gay and the online dating scene seems to be much more booming for boys4boys, I was surprised because he is a good-looking, sweet, talented, smart, polite, and all around interesting guy.  Which got me thinking... MAYBE I SHOULD JOIN AN ONLINE DATING SIGHT?!?! I mean, I am a part media major, always looking to do new things that initially make me uncomfortable, yet allow me to explore new facets of my personality, thus ensuring I constantly stay open-minded and non-judgemental.  && it is not like this is a last resort- I am still meeting people all the time in real life... so why not experiment and see what it is like online?  Plus the site he joined was called "OkCupid", which I found incredibly adorable.  I do love anything Valentine's Day related.

I signed up yesterday.  I have created a profile (with a firm disclaimer that my intentions are first and foremost my blogging, but I'm not necessarily ruling any sort of genuine 'connections' out).  I have answered compatibility questions.  I have browsed, messaged, and winked.  I will go on dates with these men.  I will tell you about it... but nothing too personal, I am not out to abuse feelings.

HOWEVER, I have already fallen in love twice.

I'm kind of excited.

Partiee bus 4 my Uncle's 50th !!

My Uncle, Cesare. BIRTHDAY BOY!

Last night I rode a partiee bus for my uncle's surprise 50th birthday party.  The idea was to take this sort of "party bus" from the Upper West Side all the way to a restaurant in Cooney Island.  My aunt said she was inspired by the article in the New York Times the other week- which said that party buses were the new cool thing.  Additionally, as my uncle is a swanky chef, and there are no swanky restaurants in Cooney Island (assumedly) I was in complete WTF mode.  Plus, I knew exactly what this so called "party bus" was because, HELLO, I grew up taking them to just about every quasi far location that required pre-ordered tickets, reservations, or RSVPs back in high school.

Parents were in town and met me uptown.  Everyone was in fancy wear, more or less.  I was in my metallic pink docs and signature hat... straight from work, ready to pass out.  Luckily for me, there were buckets and buckets of champagne awaiting everyone.  Also lucky for me, the bus ride took over an hour.  Everyone was completely trashed before we got there.  Even BETTER, I was by far the youngest person there... everyone else was between the ages of 35-80, but mostly 50s.  I got to be THAT girl, but in a totally awesome kind of way. It was even more fun because not only did I actually belong since I was family, people were kind of schmoozing with me.  Plus, upon saying I attend the New School, I was immediately told, "Oh, so you're an artist."  Which, albiet an understandable response, I found quite amusing.  Regardless, I took it for what it was & continued with the infinite champagne.

The restaurant, Tatiana's, was actually in Brighton Beach and can only be described as what I would call a Russian nightclub/restaurant/crazyville.  We had three large tables set next to the stage, where later there were performances by obviously trained, but totally wonderfully-awful dancers.  It was still kind of amazing, though.  && I still really have no idea if it is kitsch or not.  Oh, and there was also a "wedding" going on, but I began to think it was fake... kind of like Tony and Tina's in Chicago.

On a side note: I started speaking Russian words to people because I use to do this thing with my roommate last year, Russian Tuesdays, where she could only speak to me in Russian until 5 PM on Tuesdays.  Thanks Anastasia!!  I would write out what I think 'thanks' is in Russian, but I actually think I got it mixed up with something else when I said it to the coat check girl, that & there's no way I could spell it.

OMG the new Nylon is AMAAZZING !

I actually grew up a Teen Vogue fiend, but this new issue of Nylon with Katy Perry on the cover is BOMB! However, as much as I love her and think she is adorable, I will say I am not THAT naive && realize she is still riding the "I Kissed a Girl" wave circa 2 years ago. Lucky for her, she is incredibly likeable and if anything, I would say that she has crossed over into it-girl territory (rather than pop icon) , which is what Nylon is all about, anyway. Plus, she is engaged to that super cute comedian && is my style twin, so we coo.

This is where I show you how much I love the newest issue.  Post-its added for effect. Don't mind the last 5-8 seconds... I attempted to do a little swirvy dance for you all, but instead I think it might make you dizzy and vom.

Dear Frye boots, I love you, but it's time...

If you are a near and dear friend to me, namely James, you may recall a little video I did a while back for Stylelikeu all about my personal style (during my goth phase, I may add) && even better yet, I was able to highlight my Frye boots- which I wear "like everyday".  Lily told me she edited the video that way because she wanted to get the point across that I really do wear them all the time.  Be-that-as-it-may, I still believe her intention was purely comedic.  Nevertheless, makes for some good Vimeo.

Again, Frye boots, I love you.  But it has been over two years.  Your heels are wearing down, lining completely destroyed, and you are a bit stinky.  I will keep you around because you are still amazing looking & plan to bust you out here and there, but I have a new love.. Docs.

Sommeebody hit up Trash & Vaudeville Doc Marten slumber party !!Rockin' my zebra pair Saturday night before I headed out.

&& yes, that is my steamer to the left.  I think I should bedazzle it.

Seasick Mama X Casey RAnderson : 'F*ck you, F*ck me'

I met Marial "Seasick Mama" a couple of months ago at the Stylelikeu / AVANT magazine party over at that little lounge below Coffee Shop in Union Square.  She convinced me to partake in a casting/photoshoot of sorts for her newest project, F*ck you F*ck me , where I had to fake having an orgasm while photographer, Casey RAnderson tried to capture the money shot.  I guess I did a pretty good job because a few of my images were exhibited at Inven.tory the other week for a bit of a celebratory fashion week partay.  I was also put on some tee shirts and pillowcases there.  Blackbook did a bit of a feature on the whole shebang.. check it out here !

Click here to buy my tee shirt.  Pillowscases should still be at Inven.tory.

Here is a video from the casting...
