OkCupid :: I went on Dates!! Suitor #3 : Nat

Name: Nat

Age: 26

Job: Photographer

Location: Bushwick

Compatibility Rating: 73% match, 76% friend, 26% enemy

What Caught My Attention: He's a photographer;  I tend to get along with them. Also, his snarky, yet self-deprecating humour.

# of Dates: 1

What We Did: Went to Pinkberry on St. Marks and got some fro-yo.  Our energies immediately matched, and like a man, he paid 4 my Pinkberry.  All men should always pay for Pinkberry.  Drinks/dinner, not so much.. just worry about my Pinkberry.  Anyway, he tells me he does photography of more landscape-y things in the form of buildings/architecture.. lived in Nevada for a while for a job.  He also mentioned a band he use to be in and how they played with Gaga back in the day when she was doing Norah Jones covers.. interesting enough, but was hoping for a more fashion-y/lifestyle photag.  He's quite witty and perfectly nice.  We spoke of his distaste for street artist, Dick Chicken, that took over his neighborhood/all of NYC last summer.  Mentioned how he hated having giant penises everywhere.  I informed him I use to live in Chelsea and am quite use to that.  He then informed ME that I actually am the one with a big penis.  I thought this was awesome and proceeded to die because that is definitely the best thing anyone could say on a first date.

Enjoyed my time hanging outside Pinkberry laffing and eating the mochi/fruity bears/pineapple off my Pinkbears. I was much slower to eat mine (probably because I chat too much.. I've learned I'm a chatter) and we hung til I was done.  After, we both went our separate ways.  No #'s exchanged, but enjoyable experience overall.

Grade: B

I don't think I'd want to go on another date with him unless he proposed something really fun/easy.  Loved that he had great energy, but it was a bit too Yuppie for me rather than chill.  If anything he would be a totally awesome friend because our of fabulous banter, but I don't know where our paths would cross in the future. Not much common ground.

PS. On a sidenote, please listen to the entire Pinkberry song on their website.  GENIUS. I will be DJing this once I start learning how to DJ.. again, NO STEALING THAT IDEA!!!!

# of Dates: 1

What We Did: We went to Barcade in Brooklyn.  I was very excited.. mostly to play Pacman, even though that game gives me major anxiety.  Sadly we had to go on a Friday (sadly because I try to avoid going out out on weekends just because it is so absurdly crowded everywhere, even the streets).  So yes, it was a Friday and quite absurdly crowded over at Barcade.  Nonetheless we had some drinks and he informed me he had a roll of quarters with him for some video game action.  Yes a bit premeditated, but still kind of awesome, anyway.  Played a whole buncha things: Magic Marbles, some kind of inner tube thing on a river, some game where you can murder a lot of people (that was my idea, and it was actually pretty awesome) and then PACMAN!!!!!!!

This video doesn't do him justice.  He was actally really good.  Gave me a run for my money considering I have that joystick thing you plug into any TV and play.

Grade: C

He was very nice, and seemed quite interested, but in the nicest way possible, was a bit too dull.  I think he is still one of those cute boys next door in Jersey.. great for some nice young girl next door in Pennsylvania or something like that.  He tried to coordinate a second date both during the date and quasi the next week.  I vaguely agreed during the date and then didn't respond to his texts after.  I know it sounds mean, but that is a normal thing, right?  I think we call this the phase out (even though it was after only 1 date) or perhaps just plain old ignoring.  Either way, he was not for me.

SXSW 2010 ::: Jam Sessions

On Saturday Fmly originally had planned to do some guerilla style shows all along the river/GAZEBO, but seeing as how it was so fucking cold that day, it turned more into some fun little jam sessions punctuated with trips to the coffee shop around the corner to warm up, drink large hot beverages, and use the bathroom.  Here we got some Truman Peyote action with Eric Farber doing us a little diddy followed by Henry Crawford of Bad Teeth on the next vid. PS. I'm in love with Henry's voice.  For real. Skip to 1:08.  Thank me later.

**UPDATE**

Just realized that Mr. Farber here is moving at the speed of light.  Kind of makes it even cooler though, no? Ima keep it that way.  You can thank me later for that, too.

Partiee bus 4 my Uncle's 50th !!

My Uncle, Cesare. BIRTHDAY BOY!

Last night I rode a partiee bus for my uncle's surprise 50th birthday party.  The idea was to take this sort of "party bus" from the Upper West Side all the way to a restaurant in Cooney Island.  My aunt said she was inspired by the article in the New York Times the other week- which said that party buses were the new cool thing.  Additionally, as my uncle is a swanky chef, and there are no swanky restaurants in Cooney Island (assumedly) I was in complete WTF mode.  Plus, I knew exactly what this so called "party bus" was because, HELLO, I grew up taking them to just about every quasi far location that required pre-ordered tickets, reservations, or RSVPs back in high school.

Parents were in town and met me uptown.  Everyone was in fancy wear, more or less.  I was in my metallic pink docs and signature hat... straight from work, ready to pass out.  Luckily for me, there were buckets and buckets of champagne awaiting everyone.  Also lucky for me, the bus ride took over an hour.  Everyone was completely trashed before we got there.  Even BETTER, I was by far the youngest person there... everyone else was between the ages of 35-80, but mostly 50s.  I got to be THAT girl, but in a totally awesome kind of way. It was even more fun because not only did I actually belong since I was family, people were kind of schmoozing with me.  Plus, upon saying I attend the New School, I was immediately told, "Oh, so you're an artist."  Which, albiet an understandable response, I found quite amusing.  Regardless, I took it for what it was & continued with the infinite champagne.

The restaurant, Tatiana's, was actually in Brighton Beach and can only be described as what I would call a Russian nightclub/restaurant/crazyville.  We had three large tables set next to the stage, where later there were performances by obviously trained, but totally wonderfully-awful dancers.  It was still kind of amazing, though.  && I still really have no idea if it is kitsch or not.  Oh, and there was also a "wedding" going on, but I began to think it was fake... kind of like Tony and Tina's in Chicago.

On a side note: I started speaking Russian words to people because I use to do this thing with my roommate last year, Russian Tuesdays, where she could only speak to me in Russian until 5 PM on Tuesdays.  Thanks Anastasia!!  I would write out what I think 'thanks' is in Russian, but I actually think I got it mixed up with something else when I said it to the coat check girl, that & there's no way I could spell it.
